Sérgio travels to a metropolis in West Africa to join an NGO as an environmental engineer, in a road project linking the desert to the jungle. In this new setting, he becomes involved in an intense but unstable relationship with two local inhabitants, Diara and Gui. As the fragile neocolonial machinery of the expatriate community begins to crumble, this triangle becomes their only support against the risk of sinking into loneliness or slipping into barbarism.
