California, 1980s. A group of former militants reunites when one of their daughters is kidnapped by a long-time enemy. Between memories of the past and the struggle for survival, the group members confront their ghosts while the bonds that once united them are put to the test.

Inspired by the novel "Vineland" (1990) by Thomas Pynchon, One Battle After Another combines political satire with black comedy, intertwining echoes of counterculture with multiple references to the pop culture of a generation.
