Teresa (Tessa in the English original) is a brilliant young lawyer. Coming from a humble working-class family, she has achieved her success purely as a result of her own merit and hard work, establishing herself as a gifted defence lawyer. She defends, cross-examines and wins consecutively, case after case. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, the burden of proof and morality diverge, at a crossroads where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game.
