Cidália Moreira, Vítor Emanuel and Maria Tavares are three of the most renowned names in the Portuguese performing arts scene and, together with actress Raquel Caneca, have now joined forces in a musical revue-style production (which premiered in January) that is currently touring the country. This original show takes audiences on a delightful journey through some of the greatest musical highlights of the Portuguese Revue tradition and is enhanced by original and entertaining sketches, where humour, subtlety, witty writing, and a wardrobe featuring more than 150 costumes make all the difference.
It is worth highlighting that, over the course of two hours, audiences have the opportunity to enjoy these remarkable figures of Portuguese culture live on stage. This is a true musical and revue production in which both elements are seamlessly combined and interconnected, as it is impossible to separate the great moments of revue theatre from the iconic songs that have become part of Portugal’s cultural history.
Beginning with the popular song “Sempre que Lisboa Canta” (“Whenever Lisbon Sings”), audiences can enjoy outstanding moments of comedy through sketches that explore topics such as Uber drivers; a heartfelt tribute to Ivone Silva; the state of healthcare in Portugal; a parody of the television programme “Primeira Companhia”; an unexpected letter that “reveals everything”; a playful take on singer Cláudia Nayara; and even a powerful and moving segment addressing the issue of drug addiction. With a strong presence on Portuguese television, this revue is the perfect choice for bringing comedy and revue theatre to any venue, and also features a voice-over by Júlio Isidro in a special tribute to Cidália Moreira.
