With Toni Servillo in the role of Mariano De Santis, a President of the Republic nearing the end of his term, the story follows his final days in office, marked by difficult decisions — two pardon requests and a law on euthanasia. But far from protocols and official speeches, it is in his relationship with his daughter and the quiet companionship of his friend Coco that the man reveals himself, between fragility, affection, and an unexpected lightness.

Visually stunning, the film confirms the unmistakable signature of Paolo Sorrentino: elegant compositions, choreographed camera movements, and meticulous attention to light and space, where the grandeur of the settings contrasts with the intimacy of silence. Elegant and subtle, it also engages in dialogue with È stata la mano di Dio and Parthenope, forming a trilogy about lost time—three movements on what remains, what slips away, and what asks to be understood before being judged.
