Marina, 18 years old and orphaned since childhood, must travel to the Atlantic coast of Spain to obtain the signature of her paternal grandparents—whom she has never met—for a scholarship application. There, she encounters a multitude of new uncles, aunts, and cousins, uncertain whether she will be welcomed or met with resistance. As long-buried emotions resurface, rekindling tenderness and uncovering silent wounds connected to the past, Marina reconstructs the fragmented—and often contradictory—memories of the parents she barely remembers.
