The Legendary Tigerman is the stage name of Portuguese musician and composer Paulo Furtado.
With a solid career rooted in the DIY ethos and characterised by his reinvention of genres such as Blues, Rock and Garage Rock, while always retaining a strong punk edge, The Legendary Tigerman has built an outstanding international reputation. His rise began with the release of the iconic album Naked Blues in 2001. Within just a few years, he evolved from cult artist to a leading name on the European music scene, and it was with the acclaimed FEMINA (2009) that he secured his place among the most innovative voices in European rock music.
With TRUE (2014) and MISFIT (2018), he further consolidated his position on the international rock scene through two albums that explore rich sonic landscapes and a distinctive vision of Rock ’n’ Roll that avoids convention and cliché.
On stage, the unstoppable rock machine driven by Paulo Furtado unleashes an explosive and unpredictable sound, exactly as a true Rock ’n’ Roll act should.
The success of The Legendary Tigerman extends far beyond Portugal, thanks to extensive touring throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Alongside his work as a performer, Paulo Furtado has also established a distinguished career in theatre, cinema, soundtrack composition, photography and filmmaking.
Committed to creating unique and authentic music, The Legendary Tigerman reinvents himself with every new release through creativity and innovation. In September 2023, he released ZEITGEIST. Born in Paris, somewhere between decaying streets and sweat-soaked clubs, ZEITGEIST marked the first time he composed primarily with modular synthesizers rather than guitars.
The album features collaborations with renowned national and international artists, including Anna Prior, Asia Argento, Best Youth, Calcutá, Delila Paz, Jehnny Beth, RAY, Sarah Rebecca and Sean Riley.
The year 2024 was dedicated to presenting the album live, with an extensive tour across Portugal and two series of club performances in France. In 2025, he celebrated the 15th anniversary of the seminal album FEMINA.
Fifteen years later, the album was celebrated, the songs were celebrated, and so too was the remarkable career of an artist who has become a true reference point in contemporary Portuguese music.
Meanwhile, the tour promoting ZEITGEIST continues to captivate audiences across the country.
